THE ARTIST
Always a great observer of people as a child it is not surprising that Gabrielle
Churchouse now dedicates her working life to capturing the beauty and spirit
that lies in each and every one of us.
After completing a degree in History in her native New Zealand, Gabrielle travelled to Africa where, inspired by its many faces, she discovered her true vocation behind the lens. After many years travelling Africa, Gabrielle moved to the UK where she completed her formal Photography training at London’s Camden Institute. What began as a love of history developed into a passion for recording the passage of time in people, especially children and families, through the medium of photography. Gabrielle established her portraiture business after moving to Hong Kong in the 80s and, over the past 30 years, has earned a deserved reputation as the preferred portrait photographer of families and corporations.
Gabrielle’s personal perspective carries throughout her work. Her ethos is simple – to capture the unique beauty and essence of each person she photographs. “When I look through a lens at a person I see what makes someone love that person… I see the beauty in a face and that shines through in the photograph.”
To ensure that character comes through in the most natural way, Gabrielle and her team have perfected the art of making each subject feel relaxed, and are particularly skilled in working with children. This warm and welcoming environment ensures each portraiture session is a great experience for all involved.
Gabrielle is ably assisted by photographic assistant Ian Ma, who brings a passion for the possibilities of digital photography to the studio.
THE STUDIO
Gabrielle Churchouse Photography recently opened a new Studio in Central. The luxurious 1,200-sq-ft Studio provides the ideal creative space for portraiture work, and guarantees the utmost privacy for families and corporate clients alike. With an expert support team and the latest digital technology, the Studio is fast gaining a reputation for excellence in postproduction work and high-end printing.
